Swimming in the sea of unemployment is always a fear when striving to achieve a degree. According to the Huffington Post, the amount of people in the U.S. with Bachelor’s degrees that were jobless was around 2.4 million. However, to avoid becoming a statistic, Lindenwood offers a Career Development Center for students that may help keep you afloat.
The Career Development Center, tucked into the back of Spellmann Center, is available for students to gain support during the job search process. The Center also assists students to prepare to ‘sell’ themselves to companies. Directed by Dana Wehrli, the center offers career fairs, career planning seminars, and even help with credential files, used for snagging the education job of your dreams. This center has been so successful, in fact, that students call back and send letters of appreciation.
The Career Development Center also offers on-campus interviewing that could lead to internships, summer jobs, and even entry level positions, “Representatives from business, industry, government and school districts conduct interviews during the two “seasons” of on-campus interviewing which occur early in the fall and spring semesters,” said Dana Wehrli. “Typically the spring season is heavier; therefore, to maximize your opportunity to participate in the on-campus interview program, register with CareerConnect as early as Oct. 1 to be ready for spring.”
So, if you’re in need of that extra boost to keep your head above water, head on over the Career Development Center, and see what fascinating career opportunities you can reel in.
