Singer Frank Sinatra, Jr. died Wednesday, March 16.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the world-famous crooner was scheduled to perform Wednesday night at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida. The afternoon before the show, he fell ill and was taken to the Halifax Health Medical center. While there, he succumbed to cardiac arrest.

Sinatra was scheduled to perform at the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts on the campus of Lindenwood University May 21 as part of his “Sinatra Sings Sinatra” Tour, in which he toured North America performing the hits of his celebrated late father. Sinatra was originally set to perform at Lindenwood on Dec. 19 but had to reschedule due to illness.

A similar situation occurred when R&B singer Natalie Cole, the daughter of recording artist Nat King Cole, was scheduled to perform at Lindenwood on Dec. 12, 2015, but cancelled due to a medical procedure and subsequent hospital stay in October. Cole died at the age of 65 on Dec. 31, 2015.

Sinatra leaves behind his son, Michael, his sisters and mother Nancy Sinatra, Sr. He was 72.
