Lindenwood junior gymnast Kierstin Sokolowski has been selected as an individual competitor for the NCAA National Collegiate Regional Championships.
“It’s so thrilling to watch everyone to compete and it’s going to be a great environment and I’m very excited,” Sokolowski said in a Facebook live interview.
According to Lindenwood Athletics website, this will be Sokolowski’s second time to go to the regionals after earning the spot the first time back in 2015 as a freshman. She finished 12th in the all-around and vault that year.
Sokolowski said previous experience of regionals gives her “an inside view” what it is going to be like and she looks forward to seeing everyone else compete and “throw off of that energy.”
Sokolowski will compete on both the vault and beam. She has won four vault titles and five beam championships this season, the latest being from last week at Midwest Independent Conference Championships. Currently, Sokolowski has a a season-high mark of 9.850 in vault, which is .50 away from her career-high 9.900. On the beam, she has a season and career-high of 9.875.
The NCAA Regionals will take place on April 1 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
