Some students who attended the fall Student Organization Fair came in hopes of finding not only a club, but also a family.
“I am a long way from my country, so finding a home away from home sounds pretty good,” junior Rafael Prieto said.
Lindenwood holds the fair at the beginning of every semester in Evans Commons with the idea of showing the new and returning students all the clubs it has to offer. According to Lindenwood’s website, more than 70 student organizations are on campus.
On Wednesday, Evans Commons was filled with signs promoting organizations beneath the multicolored flags that hang in the atrium. There were fraternities, sororities, Christian clubs, Black Student Union, vegan clubs and many others.
However, attendance at the event, which took place during lunchtime, was sparse.
“I have been at Lindenwood for 10 years working with International Student Fellowship, and this year has been slower than previous years,” Campus Minister Ava Schaeffer said.
The Campus Outreach club’s sign-up table for the Campus Cup was popular among students. The event will take place on Sept. 9 and be hosted by Pfremmer and Reynolds Hall.
Prieto said the event was a great opportunity for students to really get to know all the different activities Lindenwood has to offer.
