Lindenwood fell at home to MIAA opponent Northeastern State by a score of 3-1.

Coming off a 2-1 road win at Nebraska-Kearney, the Lindenwood Lions soccer team looked to build off that performance with a home game against Northeastern State University.

Northeastern State came into the game with an undefeated record of 9-0-0 and 3-0-0 in the MIAA. Lindenwood wanted to pull off the upset.  The Lions controlled most of the play in the first half. They outshot the RiverHawks by a 6-3 margin, but the RiverHawks came away with the only goal in the first half.  The Lions also managed a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks, but were unable to get on the board. 

Northeastern State would add another goal midway through the second half in the 65th minute, giving them the 2-0 cushion. 

The Lions wouldn’t go down without a fight as freshman Katie Juhlin added a late goal in the 88th minute to cut the lead in half at 2-1. 

Lindenwood would finish with 10 shots on goal for the night. Goalie Mary McGilvray finished the game with four saves.  

The Lions are now 4-7-0 on the season and 1-3-0 in conference play.  The RiverHawks kept their undefeated season going and improved to 10-0-0 and 4-0-0 in MIAA play. The Lions will look to bounce back when they return to action at 2 p.m. on Sunday with another conference game against Central Oklahoma.
