Junior Chandler Diekvoss led the team in scoring with 19 points. Diekvoss has led the Lions in scoring in three games this season.

The Lions shot 50 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from behind the arc. Points in the paint also separated the two teams with the Lions outscoring the Trojans 36-12 close to the basket.

The Lions defense forced the Trojans to turn the ball over 23 times. This resulted in 27 points off of turnovers.

Lindenwood’s offense only turned the ball over eight times on Monday night, which matched their average per game this season. The Lions rank 30th in all of NCAA Division II basketball in turnovers this season, according to the NCAA Division II website.

Monday night was the season opener as the attendance in Hyland arena was 1,427. This was the highest attendance since back on February 4th, 2017 against Northwest Missouri, when their was 1,432 people in attendance, according to Lindenwood Athletics.

Much like the Lions last game against Florida Tech, Lindenwood trailed at the first media timeout 13-12. After that timeout the Lions went on a 17-8 run and never gave up the lead again. It was raining 3’s in Hyland Arena as at the conclusion of the first half both teams had made seven 3-pointers apiece. Lions led 46-37 at the half.

In the Randall era the Lions are 29-4 when leading at the half. The Lions defense forced 12 turnovers in the second half and held the Trojans to 24 points. The three point shot cooled down for both teams as the Lions and Trojans each knocked down four in the second half.

The Lions bench outscored the starters in the second half 24-16. As the Lions score a season-high 86 points, they move to 4-1 on the season.

Coming up next for Lions is a first-ever match up with Beloit College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 28th in Hyland Arena.
