The women’s basketball team held off McKendree 77-68 as Kallie Bildner recorded her sixth straight double-double.

Following Tuesday’s win, the Lions are 6-0 on the season, which is Lindenwood’s best start since joining the NCAA in 2010.

At halftime, Lindenwood led the Bogeys 41-30 with the help of sophomore guard Lindsay Medlen who had 12 points on 4-6 shooting, including 2-2 shooting the 3-pointer. Medlen finished with 13 points and five assists.

Bildner finished the game with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Through the first six games of the season, Bildner is averaging 21.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game.

Junior Lexie Moe and sophomore Gabby Walker each scored 12 points with Walker coming off the bench.

Lindenwood was out-rebounded for the first time all season. McKendree University had 34 rebounds, while the Lions had 24.

Lindenwood shot 50 percent from the field but struggled shooting the 3 in the second half. The Lions shot 45 percent from beyond the arc in first half and just 14 percent in the second half.

Throughout the game, there were no lead changes, and Lindenwood never trailed the Bogeys with its biggest lead being 14 points.

The Lions led by 11 points with 1:37 remaining in the fourth quarter, and the Bogeys went on a 7-0 run to trim Lindenwood’s lead to four with 42 seconds left on the clock. Lindenwood was able to make some clutch free throws to remain undefeated.

Head coach Tony Francis and the players played their closest game at home this season.

“You find ways to get a win and against a rivalry,” Francis said. “They beat us last year, so I knew they were going to give everything they had.”

Lindenwood’s next game will be against Central Christian College of the Bible on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. in Hyland Arena.
