The Lindenwood men’s volleyball team (7-9) will look to edge closer to .500 this weekend when it plays against Saint Francis University at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at Hyland Arena.
The Lions snapped a six-game losing streak when they defeated Quincy University (25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 25-12) on Tuesday, March 6, in Quincy, Illinois.
The Lions have been led on offense this year by middle hitters Sam Schindler and Connor Hipelius. Schindler has 102 kills and Hipelius has 110 kills through 16 games. The duo has also been attacking efficiently: Schindler is hitting .393 and Hipelius is hitting .383.
Setter Adam Brewster credited taking a three-day break between their last loss against Ball State and Tuesday’s match against Quincy University as helping the team to come back with a fresh perspective on its performance.
“I’m excited, I’m really happy with the adjustments we made in today’s match and am looking forward to seeing if we can continue to bring that in the practice gym this week and again in our match Friday,” Brewster said.
The Lions changed their strategy and decided to change their focus toward a more “clean,” error-free style of play. This renewed focus showed in the game against Quincy. The Lions committed only 13 errors, down on their season average of 19.2
