The Lindenwood women’s volleyball team gave Emporia State University a good fight Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena.
The encounter against the Hornets was a long one when the Lions took the game to five sets. The Lions won the first set with 25-19, while the Hornets took the win in the second set with 16-25.

During the third set, the Lions and the Hornets found themselves with an even score 23-23. Two kills and a block gave the Lions the win 26-24. The fourth set was different and the Lions were unable to catch up to the Hornets, finishing with a score of 13-25.
Going into the final set, the Lions and the Hornets went back and forth until the Hornets powered up to score twice in a row and beat the Lions 13-15.
Outside hitter Bailey Dvorak said everyone on the team is reflecting on themselves and “thinking of things that they can do individually to help the team as a whole.”
Regardless of their loss, the Lions set several school records. According to Lindenwood Athletics, the team recorded a total of 18 blocks and 32 team assists. Alexa Pressley and Sadie Kosciuk led the attack with 12 kills each.
The Lions have now found themselves in a six-game losing streak and 0-5 for MIAA conference.
The Lions are back on the road next weekend with two matches against Southwest Baptist University on Friday and Missouri Southern State University on Saturday.
