The Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise will be holding a speaker to talk about justice and social justice.

James Otteson, a professor of economics and the executive director of the Eudaimonia Institute at Wake Forest University, will be speaking on Tuesday at the Missouri Athletic Club in Town and Country.

Otteson has held various scholar positions at universities like Bowling Green State University, University of Aberdeen, Georgetown University and the University of Missouri at St. Louis.

He frequently lectures about Adam Smith, known as the “father of economics” and for his theory about wages, which says that “dangerous or undesirable jobs tend to pay higher wages to attract workers to these positions,” according to Investopedia.

Smith also wrote a book in 1776 titled “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations.”

In addition to Smith, Otteson lectures on other topics such as classical liberalism, political economies, business ethics, the Adam Smith Society, the Acton Institute and the Tikvah Fund.

The event is free. Doors open at 5:30, and the talk begins at 6 p.m. The Missouri Athletic Club is located at 1777 Des Peres Road.
