Film Series returns with impressive line-up
Story by Wes Murrell | staff reporter
Lindenwood’s year-long film series returned to Young Hall Auditorium with the opening film as last year’s 3-time Oscar-winner (which included Best Adapted Screenplay) The Social Network.
Twenty-eight films are lined up for this fall’s roster of movies, many of which have either been nominated for the coveted “Best Picture” award (from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) or that have successfully taken it home.
Best Picture nominees and winners to be featured in the Series include films like The Social Network, 127 Hours, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Black Swan, Crash and Life is Beautiful.
But Best Picture is not the only Academy Award garnered by films on this fall’s Film Series list. Winners of other Oscars join the cast, as do older films like Au Hassard Balthazar and Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru.
The Lindenwood Film Series, headed by Professor of Philosophy David Brown, will show films every week in Young Auditorium at 7 p.m. for the remainder of the semester. LU students will be admitted for free with a student ID, and general admission for non-students and the public will be $5.
