Wining a third consecutive home game, the women’s basketball team used rebounds to defeat Northeastern State 57-52.

Vanessa Zailo led the way for the Lions, grabbing 21 of the team’s 52 rebounds. Earning the seventh double-double of her career she also scored 17 points. Kassidy Gengenbacher added 17 points as well, including the team’s only two three pointers.

Overall the team shot 31.7 percent from the floor.

Leading by as many as 13 points, Lindenwood remained in front for all but four minutes of the game. While the Riverhawks were able to cut the deficit to just one point last in the third quarter, the Lions’ defense held off the comeback.

By the end of the game, the they caused 11 turnovers and recorded two steals.

Earning their six overall win of the season, the Lions remain perfect as home, as well as in conference play.

Lindenwood’s homestand will continue on Dec. 14, when the 6-1 Central Oklahoma Bronchos visit the Hyland Arena.
