Eleven students have reported car break-ins on campus this week, according to an email alert sent out by security this morning. The vehicle break-ins have taken place mostly at night in the Calvert Rogers’ parking as well as on Anneric, Karen, and Duchesne—all streets in women’s housing—from Jan. 24 through Jan. 28.

John Bowman, the Director of Safety and Security for Lindenwood said, “This is one or two people going around trying doors, so they are crimes of opportunity.”

Every victim reported they left their doors unlocked. Some victims said nothing was taken, but their belongings had been rifled through, and their door was left ajar.

The St. Charles Police Department is currently investigating the incidents with the support of Lindenwood’s public safety department. The university is reminding students to lock their vehicles, even if it will be unattended for just a few minutes. They are also advising students to refrain from leaving valuables in a visible place inside of their cars.

Anybody with information should contact the St. Charles Police Department at 636-949-3300 or Lindenwood Public Safety at 636-949-4911
