As part of Lindenwood’s Spring Fling Week, the Campus Activities Board hosted the Spring Safari Carnival on Saturday, April 16.
“Since we had Jeff Corwin coming this week, we decided to do a safari theme since he uses a lot of animals,” said CAB’s Morgan Riggs. “So we really wanted to incorporate the whole animal thing since, who doesn’t like that?”

From 2-5 p.m., the quad on LU’s heritage side of campus was home several games for students to collect tickets and be able to earn prizes. Some students found it challenging to earn enough tickets to win certain prizes.
“It was a really bit frustrating trying to come up with 35 tickets for the T-shirt,” said freshman Abby Hinman, “but it’s been a lot of fun.” However, the participants always got one ticket for the effort.
“It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried, you are still able to get something for it,” Megan Hinman said.
Many games kept with the safari theme including “American Hunter” and “The Joey Jump,” Twhich consisted catapulting a ball into a kangaroo’s pouch. Many classic carnival games were also included, such as Crazy Cans, Plinko and Jacob’s Ladder.
In addition to the amenities, the weather was also key for the success of the event.

“Our goal was basically to have really nice weather, which worked really well because it is really beautiful out today, and have students to have fun,” Riggs mentioned. “There is a very good amount of students out here so I think it’s going pretty well.”
Considering students’ reactions, the Safari Carnival was a success for CAB.
“This is probably one of the most fun events I’ve had” Megan Hinman stated.
