Saint Charles’s held their annual Oktoberfest September 28th, 29th and 30th.  While the popular belief is that Oktoberfest should be held in October, historically the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese changes the theory. In 1810 in the city of Munich, Germany, they commenced the first celebration of Oktoberfest in September due to the bitter cold weather in Bavaria during the month of October.

Music, drinks and crafts highlighted the event held in Frontier Park along the river front. A parade Saturday morning began the day’s festivities, along with a Wiener Dog Race, fashion show and multiple bands filling the crisp air with Germany influenced tunes. Sunday began with a 5k and Root Beer walk/run and finished the weekend with dances of Mittleretanzgruppe troop.
