The Lindenwood athletics department will celebrate National Bobblehead Day by giving away Leo the Lion bobbleheads at Saturday’s basketball games.

The first 1,000 fans who arrive at the Hyland Arena will receive the promotional item sponsored by Midwest Bank Centre. Gameday staff will begin handing out the bobbleheads prior to the start of the women’s basketball game, which is set to tip off at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Lindenwood’s game day event coordinator, Drew Hill says the bobbleheads will be available “through the men’s game or until we run out.” The men’s game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. CT.

The promotion marks the third-consecutive year the athletic department has hosted a bobblehead giveaway. Past bobbleheads have depicted former Lindenwood and current Seattle Seahawks cornerback, Pierre Desir and former Lindenwood Lacrosse alum Melissa Menchella.

“We chose Leo as the bobblehead because we wanted to show off his new look,” Hill said. “We think it’s something the outside community would enjoy.”

Both the men’s and women’s teams will face off against University of Central Oklahoma in the Jan. 7 contests. Students can attend the games for free with a valid Lindenwood I.D. and tickets can be purchased at the Lindenwood box office for as low as $3.
