Lindenwood’s Fall Break may have cut Homecoming week in half, but that didn’t stop students and alumni from showing their Lion pride.

The Campus Activities Board and various student organizations hosted a number of events Oct. 14-17 to get the community involved.

Energy remained high throughout the week’s celebration, from the ever-popular annual Lip Sync Contest on Thursday to Saturday’s performance by comedian Mike Birbiglia.

Community members made up portions of the parade and its audience on Saturday morning, after which alumni joined students in celebrating Lindenwood’s first Homecoming victory since 2011 for the football program.

The university’s archivist held a discussion about the history of Lindenwood, the fashion program held an exhibition and sale to raise money for students hoping to study abroad, the American Red Cross hosted a blood drive, the class of 1965 reunited, and much, much more.

 Sports

Lindenwood’s football team defeated the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers 28-10, but it wasn’t the only winning team during Homecoming.

Women’s field hockey saw two wins over the weekend, defeating Bellarmine University 3-2 and Dowling College 5-1.

Women’s volleyball also had two consecutive wins. The team shut out Southwest Baptist University 3-0 and defeated Missouri Southern State University 3-2.

Women’s rugby had an 88-0 victory over Kansas City Jazz Rugby Club.

Men’s water polo Team A defeated Team B 5-0, as well as Saint Louis University 19-8 and the University of Missouri 23-13.

Women’s soccer won against Northeastern State University with a score of 2-1 and tied at 1 against the University of Central Oklahoma.
