Lindenwood invites students to get into the Halloween spirit by participating in the numerous activities offered on campus from Tuesday to Friday.
For 5 years, the Dark Carnival has gathered students and members of the St. Charles community around the time of Halloween for one night of fun, but this is the first time the Campus Activities Board will help with the activities. This week will include a wide range of new Halloween activities, including a drag show and a couple of Halloween parties.
Wednesday, Oct. 28

Escape Parker Hall
This new game, which is designed and sponsored by the Interactive Media and Web Design Club and Delta Tau Delta Pledge Class, will be a live action room escape.
The president of the Interactive Media and Web Design club Tommy Holstein said groups of four to seven will have to find items hidden around the room and solve puzzles in order to escape in 10 minutes.
“The game will be loosely based on the movie ‘Saw’,” Holstein said.
The event will take place at Parker Hall between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The Dark Carnival
As every year, the Dark Carnival will offer free foods and drinks as well as numerous games and activities, including the traditional Haunted House in Cobbs Hall.
Resident Director at Cobbs Hall Michael Jordan supervises the organization of the haunted house for the second consecutive year.
“Cobbs Hall is a freshman dorm. Therefore, I get a new set of students every year. They enjoy participating into the haunted house because it is something new they get to do. Plus they get to scare all their friends as they walk through the haunted house,” Jordan said.
Jordan said 2500 people walked through the haunted house last year and this year should be as successful since there will be 57 booths located on campus.
The Dark Carnival will take place by the Spellmann Center from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 29
Mask Decorating
The Campus Activity Board invites students to decorate their own Halloween mask.
Boyan Donov, the Day Events Chair of CAB said the event is free for students.
“We are going to provide the masks and also supplies for decorating them,” Donoy said. “We are going to have a lot of different craft materials so the student can do a personal masks.”
The event will be held in the Evans Commons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 30
To close up Halloween celebrations, a couple of parties will be host on campus on Friday night.
The Catholic Student Union will host their traditional Halloween Party in Newman Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., while Phi Delta Theta will have their party from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Butler Loft.
Both parties will have free snacks, drinks, numerous games and a costume contest with a prize for the winner.
Phi Delta Theta Social Chairperson, Nicholas Newberry said every student is welcome.
“This is the second year in a row that I’ve thrown the Halloween party for Phi Delta Theta. I organize the party so people on campus can come and have a good time in a carefree, responsible, safe environment. Costumes aren’t mandatory, but are highly encouraged, especially because there will be a costume contest,” Newberry said.
Member of the CSU and organizer of the party, Valerie Tonsor, said she is excited to throw their annual Halloween party.
“We would love to see a lot of new faces. Overall, it is just going to be a great night with food, drink, games, and candy,” Tonsor said.
