The Lions men’s ACHA Division I hockey team split a two-game series against the No. 6 seeded Iowa State University Cyclones this weekend at the Wentzville Ice Arena.

The Saturday night game started at 7 p.m., and period one ended without any scoring from either side. During the second period, Lindenwood scored its only goal of the game at the 5:55 mark, as captain Michael Lozano scored, and it was assisted by Alexander Carlsson and Cade Owad.

The Cyclones tied the game in the third period and forced the game into overtime, which remained scoreless and pushed the game to a shootout. Lindenwood’s Tommy Heinzman scored Lindenwood’s single goal in the shootout, leaving the Lions to fall 2-1 against the Cyclones. The Cyclones only had 15 shots on goal compared to Lindenwood’s 29 shots on goal throughout the game, according to the ACHA website.
