Halloween came early to Lindenwood Oct. 27 with the Campus Activity Board’s special edition of Friday Night Live.

The event, called “Something Spooky,” featured  free stuff like coupons, keychains and lanyards, and fall-themed snacks like chocolate-covered pretzel sticks, popcorn balls and caramel apples.

The AB Leadership Room in Spellmann Center was decorated with spider webs, headstones and skeletons, and creepy music helped to set the mood. Students could get their fortunes read by a tarot card reader, make mummy-inspired lanterns in a mason jar or decorate pumpkins with paint and other

crafty items. Students showed their skills and creativity when designing their pumpkins.

Midway through the night the focus shifted to the other half of the room for ghost stories. Storyteller David Riordan paved his way through St. Louis haunted history, touching on topics like the Lemp family, whose Falstaff beer dominated the beer market at one time. Their mansion is said to be haunted because four Lemp family members committed suicides there after the son, Frederick Lemp,  died.

Riordan also shared his personal experience with other-worldly beings.

The next CAB event will be CAB’s Smoothie Sunday on Nov. 5 to kick off the group’s Better Yourself Week. The next Friday Night Live has not been determined yet, but for more information on CAB go to InvolveU or go the event calendar on Lindenwood’s website.
