UPDATE: Police investigating stolen SUV incident – The vehicle was left unlocked

An SUV theft on Evans Commons parking lot was reported late Saturday evening, according to a timely warning email.

The victim notified Public Safety & Security of the incident at approximately 11:20 p.m on Nov. 4.

The male victim saw his vehicle last time at 11 p.m. on Nov. 3 when it was parked on the Evans Commons parking lot near men’s dormitory Pfremmer Hall. 

The vehicle is described as 2007 silver Mercury Mariner with a Wisconsin license plate AAM-5727.

No suspects are identified at this time.

The St. Charles Police Department and Public Safety & Security are investigating. They could not be reached for comment. 

This is the second theft-related incident reported on the Evans Commons parking lot in the past month. St. Charles police investigated an attempted motor-scooter theft last month, which was reported in the same location on Oct. 27.

UPDATE Nov. 8 at 11:40 a.m.

Director of Public Safety & Security John Bowman said the owner of the car had left the car unlocked.

They have no further information or suspects relating to the incident.

“We looked at the cameras and stuff and we really can’t see anything on the cameras cause it happened at night,” he said. “And where the car was parked it was too far to really get a good view.”

 

The investigation is still open.
