Women’s volleyball closes out season with error-riddled performance

The women’s volleyball team (20-13, 11-8 MIAA) was knocked out of the MIAA tournament by No. 12 Central Oklahoma (29-4, 16-3 MIAA) tonight in Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Lions lost in straight sets 20-25, 18-25, 20-25. Alex Dahlstrom was the Lions most effective hitter on the night. Dahlstrom recorded 10 kills and recorded a .429 hitting percentage.

The Lions and Central Oklahoma both recorded 39 kills. However, the Lions’ inability to hit cleanly on offense let them down. The Lions recorded 20 attacking errors compared to Central Oklahoma’s 11.

The Lions’ errors brought their percentage down to .147 on the night, much below their season average of .213. The Lions also had five reception errors on the night.

This season was the first time in history that the Lions had made the MIAA tournament. The Lions also recorded their most wins in an NCAA season with 20.

It was head coach Will Condon’s first year in charge of the program. Condon previously coached at Armstrong State.
