Women’s volleyball players Emily Wylie and Megan Hellwege were named to the All-MIAA first team today.
Freshman Sadie Kosciuk was named to the All-MIAA second team. Ivy Reynolds and Alex Dahlstrom were both named All-MIAA honorable mentions.
This is the first time in history that a Lindenwood player has been named to the All-MIAA first team, according to Lindenwood Athletics.
The awards cap off memorable regular seasons for seniors Wylie and Hellwege. Hellwege led the MIAA and had the fifth most digs in all of Division 2. Transfer senior Wylie led the Lions on offense this season, recording 327 kills whilst attaining a hitting percentage of .261. Wylie also broke the Lindenwood record for most kills in a season in the NCAA era. The 6-ft-4-inch rightside hitter bested Kayla Guyot’s record of 318 by nine kills.
Freshman Kosciuk filled a big role for the Lions when starting middle hitter Alex Bogusz went down with an ankle injury. Kosciuk flourished in the starting spot, recording 160 kills and a team-leading hitting percentage of .320.
Dahlstrom was second on the team with 237 kills. The outside hitter also recorded a team-high 41 service aces. Reynolds had a well-rounded season recording 145 kills, a team-high 646 assists and had 29 service aces.
The Lions face Central Oklahoma in their first MIAA conference tournament game tonight at 7 p.m. in Edmond, Oklahoma.
