The women’s volleyball team won its second consecutive match on Friday against Pittsburg State with sets of 23-25, 25-16, 25-20, 21-25 and 15-11.

Senior Allyson Clancy led the Lions throughout the encounter and tied a personal record of 59 assists.

“Yesterday was one of my best days of the season,” Clancy said. “I wish I could’ve pulled one more assist out to beat my record instead of tying it, but it was an important game to win.”

The Lions needed to defeat Pittsburg State to place in the top eight and make it into the conference tournament. While they successfully beat the Gorillas, the nationally ranked University of Central Oklahoma defeated them on Saturday at 3 p.m. with sets of 18-25, 23-25 and 19-2 for a 0-3.

Clancy kept the lead with 35 assists and 10 digs to get a double-double. Kosciuk scored eight blocks to match her season-high and led the defensive side with 10 kills and a .292 kill percentage.

The Lions now find themselves with a record of 12-9 overall and 4-7 for MIAA conference. Their next three matches are key to qualify for their conference tournament.

The team’s next match is on Tuesday against the University of Central Missouri at the Hyland Arena.
