Twenty-one year old Haley Cluck is finishing up her first semester as a member of Lindenwood’s Campus Activities Board. 

The Union, Missouri native transferred to Lindenwood last spring. She is a junior, majoring in Advertising/PR/corporate communications with a minor in digital and web design.

Cluck opened up about her possible next steps within her career after she earns her degree.

“Passion-wise, I would love to work for a non-profit,” Cluck said. “I would love to do the marketing, PR or event planning for one.”

Other than being a member of CAB, Cluck is also a leader of Campus Crusades for Christ and is a member of the Ads/PRC group for students in the advertising/PR major.

In her spare time, Cluck enjoys doing almost any outdoor activity, whether it be geocaching, hiking, or disc golfing. She likes to remain as active as possible and even participates in a game of basketball or volleyball whenever she gets the chance. Cluck also enjoys painting.

Before coming to Lindenwood, Cluck attended College of the Ozarks in Branson, and then went on to finish her associates degree at East Central College in Union.

Cluck decided to apply for CAB when her good friend and fellow Cabbie Molly Tiemeyer encouraged her to join.

“I really ended up wanting the job because it pairs well with my major,” Cluck said . “It will give me great experience with budgeting, planning, understanding students and others. Overall, I’ve just really learned a lot through this opportunity.”

Cluck credits her time in CAB for helping her grow not only as an individual, but as a professional.

“I would say almost in every aspect, it’s challenged me to do things I probably wouldn’t do otherwise,” Cluck said. “I’ve had a chance to speak in front of people and plan my very first event, but I have also had the chance to make a lot of new friends.”

Cluck explained how the dynamic within CAB isn’t the norm within a work environment.

“This job has definitely taught me to care for people in a different way, because not only do I have to work with them professionally, but I have to meet their needs,” Cluck said. “It’s different than being with just friends everyday, it’s being with your coworkers who are also your friends, and there’s an important balance you have to achieve.”

Cluck is excited for what CAB has in store for the spring semester, and is looking forward to growing even closer with the the organization as they welcome three new members.

She encourages students to come out to late night breakfast next Monday to fuel up on free food and fun before exams.
