Another round of winter weather will be making its way to St. Louis on Saturday, but there is not as much snow expected.

The moisture will begin Friday night, said Jared Maples with the National Weather Service. It will rain Friday night into early Saturday morning, changing into a snow and sleet mix. The rainfall is estimated to total near half of an inch.

By mid-Saturday morning, with temperatures plunging into the 20s, the snow-sleet mix will turn into snow.

“We’re expecting one to three inches, depending on where you’re located,” Maples said.

Cold air will be making its way into the area by Saturday night with temperatures as low as 14 degrees, Maples said, but the snow will stop just before 6 p.m, and temperatures will slowly climb back up into the 20s by Sunday.

Insurance company Nationwide recommends only traveling if it’s necessary and avoiding night travel. The company also recommends not traveling alone, topping off on gas, antifreeze and other fluids, making sure tires have enough tread and keeping bagged salt or sand in the trunk to keep traction and melting ice.
