As students are preparing for May 2014 graduation, the Lindenwood University Department of Career Development is making strides to help students launch their professional careers.

Lindenwood will host their Spring 2014 Career Fair on February 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Evans Commons.

Director of Career Development Dana Wehrli is in charge of the event and said this is a great opportunity for students.

“Attending a career fair can help students meet a large number of employers in a short amount of time,” said Wehrli. “Employers attend job fairs to recruit new hires…you can’t be hired if you don’t attend. “

Networking with businesses can boost students chances at getting a job after college.

“Networking is very important for getting a job because its not what you know its who you know,” said Junior Beau Zalinski.

Over 60 businesses from the St. Louis area are registered to attend the fair which is almost double last semester’s fair number. Some businesses registered are Edward Jones, Dillard’s and the FBI. Businesses are expected to bring information and resources for students, offering potential jobs.

“We’ve heard from a good number of students that have obtained employment as a result of attending the job fair,” said Wehrli.

This event is free to all current Lindenwood University students and alumni with a valid Lindenwood ID. The fee for all other attendees is $10.

The press release for the fair suggests that all attendees dress in professional attire and bring multiple copies of their resume.
