Adaptive Sports students hosted plenty of fun events throughout the day, from goalball to sit volleyball to wheelchair basketball.
Goalball is a sport played with a ball with bells for the visually impaired.
Sit volleyball ball is just like familiar volleyball played while sitting down, a sport directed toward amputees.
Wheelchair basketball allows people to experience the sport from a different perspective.
“We are trying to spread the awareness of adaptive sports to campus,” student Tyler Pickett said.
The purpose of the events is “to get more support for adaptive sports to add more to the intramural games.”
Pickett and the Adaptive Sports students want their peers, both impaired and not, to know that there are sports for all impairments, even some at the Olympic level.
