Liz Kelly, who coached the past four years at Maryville University, has been selected as Lindenwood’s new head softball coach. Kelly replaces Don Loberg, the longest tenured softball coach in Lindenwood’s history.
The hire was a first for new Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Brad Wachler.
“When she accepted the job I was thrilled because she brings an impeccable work ethic and has had success over her career at a very high level,” he said.
Kelly has had experience in a multitude of levels including internationally, when she coached the Netherlands from 2005-2008.
As a collegiate head coach, she has more than 400 wins. At Maryville University she had 86 wins and took the Saints to their most successful season in 2016, going 39-16.
Kelly also won 165 games while coaching for UC-Santa Barbara from 1995-2001, the most in program history at the time.
Lindenwood’s softball team went 15-37 overall last season with a winning percentage of .288.
