Lindenwood will host its annual Christmas Walk on campus, which will include carols, tours and a visit from Santa Claus.

The event will include “Bob Kramer’s Marionettes, Christmas carols, a performance by Lindenwood’s premiere vocal group Voices Only, campus tours, Santa Claus and a real reindeer,” according to a Lindenwood press release.

Kasey Smith, Student Director for Voices Only, said that in their performance “Everything is a Capella, and there will definitely be something for everyone.” She said that this will include old and new mixes of Christmas carols and other popular tunes.

This first Christmas Walk was held in 1983 and has had some variation of the event almost every year since. 

Director of Alumni Relations, Michelle Giessman, said “The newest edition has been a live reindeer and sleigh, and a community Christmas tree that usually has a specific focus.” She added that, “The Bob Kramer Marionnetes have participated since the first walk, and continue to return every year.”

The event usually brings 1000-3000 attendees to the Heritage side of campus, depending on the weather. This large attendance can be attributed to the walk being open to the public, not just students. The walk happens the Sunday after Thanksgiving with hopes of helping the community usher in the holiday spirit.

Giessman described the event, saying that “It is just a relaxed, beautiful evening that allows students returning from the Thanksgiving break to mingle with their friends, faculty, alumni, and St. Charles residents in the spirit of good will.” Ultimately, she feels that, “It highlights our beautiful campus.”

Anyone is welcome to enjoy the festivities on Heritage campus starting at 4 p.m. on Nov. 27.
