Campus Activities Board will be hosting a poetry night titled Lion’s Lyrics on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room, Spellmann Center. Lindenwood students and Odd?Rod, an invited spoken artist, will be participating as part of diversity week.
CAB chair Kayla Drake said anybody who is willing to participate can do so and perform. The students must come to 3040 Evans Commons, the student involvement office, and show the work they plan to perform. After it’s approved, the student must sign a performer agreement, which states you cannot slander the university.
The invited spoken artist, Odd?Rod, is a poetry spoken artist who has toured more than 300 cities and earned many awards.
Drake said they found about Odd?Rod at a conference they attended with the team to find potential ideas for events.
“It’s more of a performance; it’s not just poetry,” Drake said. “We really liked him; he expresses his heritage through poetry.”
Odd?Rod shares his story to help others cope with what they were going through and for others in school, rehab and jail he knows that they can make it too.
He was born to a drug-addicted mother and an absent father. After losing his brother to cancer, he pushed himself through high school and then earned a full college scholarship.
