The Lindenwood women’s field hockey team is projected to finish first at conference championships this year by coaches in the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
According to an article by Lindenwood Athletics, at last year’s championships, the team took its first championship title. 2016 also brought field hockey a Lindenwood record-breaking first-place finish in its regular season with 16 wins.
Lindenwood’s team received 32 points from Eastern College Athletic Conference coaches to receive its No. 1 status. Other teams ranked following Lindenwood include Bellarmine University (31 points), Limestone College (26 points), Belmont Abbey College (13 points), Mercy College (13 points) and Newberry College (11 points).
Fall 2017 marks head coach Sarah Johnson’s seventh season leading the team.
The women’s field hockey team will be competing against Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 5 p.m. on Friday in Lindenwood’s Hunter Stadium.
