Hard work brought Lindenwood cheerleading’s small coed squad its second NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Division II national title this past season, not to mention a dazzling ring.
The squad received its national championship ring at a ceremony before the Lindenwood football game on Sept. 30.
The team was one one of four to go into the finals, leading the way as they did. The squad received top marks in five categories, totaling at 95.80 to take the title.
This was also the highest score the squad has ever received. The team also went through both days of competition without any deductions. Another first.
The squad took the title by less than a point. The runner-up squad, Grand Valley State, earned 95.57.
However, that was all the team needed.
Squad member Andrew Herbe has high hopes for his last season as a Lion.
“This is my last year competing,” he said. “So hopefully we can go back and take home another ring.”
Members of the small coed squad have a few fingers still ringless. They hope to change that in the next few years.
