The Lindenwood men’s soccer team lost 4-2 to non-conference opponent Harding University on Friday night in Searcy, Arkansas.
The game was scoreless through 22 minutes until goalie Tim Licht was issued a red card and had to leave the game. Christian Ramos of Harding University would convert on the penalty kick giving the Bison’s an early 1-0 lead.
Gaspar Alvarez tied the game 31 minutes in on a corner kick assisted by Jose de Gregorio. This was Alvarez’s first goal on the season.
Lindenwood would give up another penalty kick five minutes later as Christian Ramos converted giving the Bisons a 2-1 lead and his second goal on the game.
With only five minutes left in the first half, Alvarez tied the game up yet again on a free kick assisted by Fernando Cordero. This was Alvarez’s second goal of the match.
Being down a man would eventually catch up to Lindenwood as Harding’s Matheus Ribeiro scored, giving the Bison’s a 3-2 lead. This was Ribeiro’s first goal on the season.
Later in the game, Jeremy Nwonumah scored on a breakaway extending the Bison’s lead to 4-2 as Harding would go onto win.
Lindenwood is now 8-6 on the season and have only three games remaining on their schedule.
The team will be taking on Fort Hays State on Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Hays, Kansas.
