Students are encouraged to relieve stress and improve their well-being during Campus Activity Board’s “Better Yourself Week.”
“We’ve noticed that at this time of the semester students are caught up in school and they just need to take a step back and relax and focus on themselves,” said Kelsey Gross, an event coordinator for CAB.
Each day will offer a different way for students to better themselves, ranging from smoothies to a self-defense class to a motivational speaker.
On Wednesday, Ethan Fischer will be speaking in the Spellmann AB Leadership Room about his life after being jailed for driving under the influence. Gross said that Fischer will discuss how he bounced back from his DUI imprisonment and how he made better decisions going forward.
“Sometimes we can do all this fun stuff, but you also just need to hear about the harsh realities,” Gross said. “We still wanted it to be beneficial for people to hear about that but also for them to have fun too.”
Lisa Kitchen, another event coordinator for CAB, said that she thinks Friday’s “Treat Yo Self” event will be the most popular, which will include massages being given outside of the Spellmann cafeteria.
Overall, Kitchen has one primary goal for the week ahead.
“I want more student involvement and for everyone to come together and experience these little activities,” she said.
The event starts with Smoothie Sunday at Evans Commons on Sunday, Nov. 5 and will continue until Friday, Nov. 10.
