The Lindenwood men’s D2 hockey defeated Miami University 2-0 and Davenport University 9-2 as they spent the weekend in Oxford, Ohio, playing in the Miami University showcase.
The second annual showcase at the Goggin Arena featured Miami University, Davenport University and Lindenwood’s D2 ice hockey teams.
On Friday, the Lions beat Miami University 2-0 with goals from Kyle Van Wyk and Lukas Friberger.
The Lions ended the weekend with a 9-2 win over Davenport University on Saturday. Ryan Mitchell, Josh Laven, Alex Klaesner, Hunter Schiffman, Christoffer Lowenhielm, Ben Kraus and Michael Schrader all scored. Ty Ennis scored twice to add to the Lions lead.
“We knew going into the weekend that the games would be a real test,” Schrader said. “Both Miami University and Davenport are always competitive teams in our league. Our boys were able to come together and rally off a couple wins over some very talented teams, and we couldn’t be more excited to keep the season rolling.”
Both the men’s D1 and D2 teams will be on the road next weekend. D2 will be in Ann Arbor, Michigan, facing off against the University of Michigan on at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, and 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.
D1 will be in Ames, Iowa, as it takes on Iowa State University. The team will take the ice at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb 3. Games will be streamed online.
