The Lindenwood men’s D1 ice hockey team faces off against the Robert Morris University Eagles Feb. 9 and 10 at the Edge Ice Arena in Chicago.
The Lions split the series against the Eagles when they last faced off in early November. The Lions won the first game 2-1 but fell to the Eagles 2-1 in overtime the next day.
Daniel Doyle, forward for the Eagles, will be one of the players to watch this weekend. He leads the team with 33 points, 19 goals and 14 assists this season.
Top goal scorer Mike Lozano, who leads the Lions with 29 points, 12 goals and 17 assists this season, had a goal and two assists when he last played against the Eagles.
“This weekend will be a good test for us heading into the end of the season and into nationals,” Lozano said. “Robert Morris is a conference rival, and we really want to focus on a good start for Friday night’s game.”
With the Central States Collegiate Hockey League playoffs starting the last weekend of February, the Lions have a current record of 20-3-4. Robert Morris has a record of 21-10-0. The Lions look to add to their seven-game win streak this weekend.
