The Lindenwood men’s basketball team prevailed 56-52 in its home game against the University of Central Missouri Mules on Saturday.
According to the Lindenwood Athletics, the Lions were up 29-23 at halftime in their third straight victory against UCM. Their largest lead was 15 points.
With less than four minutes on the clock, the Mules tied the game, but junior guard Chandler Diekvoss shot a 3-pointer to regain Lindenwood’s lead, which the team kept for the rest of the game.
UCM shot 43.5 percent from the field compared to Lindenwood’s 38.3 percent, but just 21.4 percent from the 3-point range
Diekvoss led the Lions in total points in the game and collected his fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Jackson Price scored 14 points and guard Brad Newman scored 10.
Juniors Adam Pohlman and Drew Moore got the most assists for the Lions, each collecting three.
Lindenwood is 15-11 this season and 7-5 in home games. The next game is against Northwest Missouri State University, who is 22-3, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Hyland Arena. In its final home game of the regular season, Lindenwood hosts Missouri Western State University on Feb. 24.
