One lucky Lindenwood Lion will have the chance to throw the opening pitch and win four all-inclusive tickets to the Cardinals vs. Giants game at Busch Stadium on Sept. 22.
The Cardinals First Pitch Raffle is open only to Lindenwood students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. All of the raffle earnings will go towards the Lions Reserve Fund, which provides assistance for students whose financial aid has run out before they have finished college.
The ticket number goes into a spreadsheet, and the winner will be selected through a random number generator. According to Chris Duggan, director of marketing and communications, the game tickets are for a party room and will include food and drinks.
The idea for this raffle started when Lindenwood purchased a digital sign by left field at Busch Stadium. Part of the deal was that Lindenwood was given an opening pitch at a home game.
“Typically the president of the university would do that, but Dr. Shonrock had the idea of doing this [raffle] as a way to raise money for the Lions Reserve Fund,” Duggan said.
According to Lindenwood’s website, tickets can be purchased at picatic.com and will be available until Sept. 10 at noon.
The winner will be announced the same day. So far 146 tickets have been sold.
