With a total of six acts, 19 songs and a few outfit changes in between, Taylor Swift put on a show that was both aesthetically and visually appealing.
Swift said she has spent a number of Thanksgiving holidays in St. Louis because of her family living in the area and has many fond memories of St. Louis. While some of those memories come from being on stage, others are of her family, some of who were also in attendance Tuesday night.
As fans entered The Dome at America’s Center, they were given a white wristband watch-like device. Each device was programmed to go off at a certain point of the show and flash a certain color. This was done because the “reputation” Stadium Tour is Swift’s first all-arena tour and she wanted to be able to “see everyone in the audience.”
Swift’s set kicked off with the song “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett blaring through The Dome as the lights started to dim one-by-one. Each of the watch device’s went off and lit up at random times with white lights, some flashing and some not, as the screen on stage split open and Swift came through the middle singing track one off of “reputation”, “…Ready For It?”
As Swift performed, the lyrics “let the games begin” flashed behind her in black and white, adding to the experience.
Not forgetting where she came from, Swift performed some of her older songs, “Love Story,” “You Belong With Me,” “Blank Space” and many more while older fans screamed along to every word.
In addition to the graphics being displayed behind Swift, props were also brought out at various times.
For “Look What You Made Me Do,” there was a tilted stage – fitting for the lyrics “don’t like your tilted stage,” and a giant blow-up snake that came up through holes from under the stage.
To add to the fun, there were two heart shaped stages set up towards the back of The Dome where Swift performed “Act 3” of her show. On her way to one of the stages, she rode over the crowd in a crystal-ball type carriage while singing “Delicate,” which is also from the “reputation” album.
Opening acts Charli XCX and former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello joined Swift on the smaller stage along with another blow-up snake and dancers dressed in suits for each color of the rainbow for “Shake It Off,” where audience members of all ages were up and out of their seats.
During “Shake It Off,” rainbow confetti was blown out of cannons onto the floor, and because of the air drafts in the room, it eventually made its way to the top sections.
Swift ended the show with a mash up of an older song, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” and thanked fans for coming to hang out with her.
She mentioned several times that it was “crazy” that people would “do this on a Tuesday night.”
The U.S leg of the “reputation” Stadium Tour is almost over, but leg four of the tour kicks off in early October in Perth, Australia.
