This week’s student-athlete spotlight is shining on one of the football team’s captains.
Name: Jonathan Harris

Q: When did you start playing football?
A: “I started playing in 7th grade on my middle school team.”
Q: How did you get started in football?
A: “Lots of my family played sports, and I grew up watching my older brother play football.”
Q: What is your biggest strength in your sport?
A: “[My] Body frame. My height and long arms give me an advantage against most offensive linemen.”
Q: What is your most embarrassing moment in your sport?
A: “My first college snap as a red-shirt freshman, I got rocked by a pulling offensive lineman from the opposing team.”
Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment in your sport?
A: “Being voted captain by my teammates. Being voted a captain by my teammates meant a lot to me because it showed that they respected and trusted me to lead this team. I love all of my teammates, and I take great pride in being a captain.”
Q: What do you like most about your sport?
A: “I love everything about football. But, my favorite part is taking the field with my teammates on game day. Taking the field on game day is the ultimate adrenaline rush. For days, the anticipation builds, and when we finally get to take the field, I feel well prepared and excited to make the most of the moment.”
Q: Why did you choose to play for Lindenwood?
A: “I was recruited by a great coach. When I took my visit here at Lindenwood, I fell in love with the campus and enjoyed meeting my future teammates and coaches.”
Q: Do you have any game day rituals?
A: “Listening to music and praying. I listen to a wide variety of music. Throughout the day, I listen to mellow music. Right before kickoff, I will change it up and listen to rap.”
Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies?
A: “Hanging out with friends, playing video games and watching sports.”
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: “Carson Wentz.”
Q: What is your favorite sports team?
A: “Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bulls.”
Q: What are three things you could not live without?
A: “Faith, family and football.”
Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be?
A: “Martin Luther King Jr., my great-grandmother and Ray Lewis.”
Q” Do you have any advice for young athletes?
A: “Persistence is key. Anything worth having will not come easy; being successful takes dedication and sacrifice.”
Q: What are your plans after college?
A: “I am going to trust in God’s plan for my life and make the most of every opportunity that I am given.”
