The Lions’ two-game winning streak ended with a 2-1 loss against Fort Hays State.
Senior Aleksa Nenadic got the start in net for the Lions, while senior Fernando Pina drew the start for the Tigers.
The Tigers opened up the scoring early with a goal from junior forward Santiago Agudelo in the fifth minute, for his 14th goal of the season. This was the only goal of the half for either side. Lindenwood outshot Fort Hayes in the half 8-4.
The game stayed at 1-0 all the way until the 56th minute, where the Tigers added on to their lead. Freshman Rogelio Lopez scored off of an assist from Santiago Agudelo, to extend the Tigers’ lead to 2-0. Lindenwood was able to get on the board with a goal in the 72nd minute by senior Thomas Hutcheson. This was his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Hutcheson has registered at least one point in his last four games.
The Lions outshot the Tigers 13-12, with six of their shots being on goal to the Tigers’ five. Nenadic made three saves for the Lions, and Fernando Pina made five saves for the Tigers.
This loss brings the Lions’ record to 5-4-2, and 1-2-1 in MIAA conference play. The Lions come back home to Hunter Stadium to take on Quincy University Tuesday Oct. 9, at 7 p.m.
