Afternoon snow showers and dropping temperatures tonight could be a dangerous combination for motorists in the metro area.
No snow is expected to accumulate on roadways, but the temperature is going to dip to 26 degrees, so there is a possibility of slick spots on roadways.
As of 4 p.m. classes are scheduled as normal for Tuesday night and Wednesday at Lindenwood University.
More snow is in the forecast for the St. Charles area on Thursday.
Thomas Spriggs, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that “up to an inch of snow is possible.”
The forecast is calling for a 70 percent chance of rain and show showers in the morning with a high of 37 and low of 22. Winds are also going to be a factor with speeds between 10 to 15 miles an hour.
By nightfall, skies will be clear with a 10 percent chance of precipitation, and wind speeds will die down to five to 10 miles an hour.
Insurance company AAA recommends not powering up hills, driving slowly and not stopping while going up a hill during snowy weather.
