Lindenwood cross country wrapped up their abbreviated 2020 season on Saturday in the GLVC Championship.

Out of eight teams competing, the men’s team finished fifth in the 8k race with a total time of 2:11.31, and an average time 26:18. It was an improvement from last year’s Championship, when the men ended up in sixth with a total time of 2:15.54.

The Lions finished ahead of Southwest Baptist, Drury, and Missouri S&T in the race. Pacing the men was again sophomore Louis Moreau, who took sixth place in the 8k with a final time of 25:20.6 and an average time of 5:05.9 per mile.

Other stand-out performances from the men’s side include junior Ben Stasney, who was second on the team and 17th overall with a 25:58.1, and freshman Bramwell Havi who was 21st 26:06.6.

The women’s team were eighth in the 6k race with a combined score of 1:59.27, about a two minute improvement from last season’s 2:01.30 in the 2019 Championship.

Lindenwood had one top 10 finisher in junior Najwa Chouati, placing ninth in the race. Chouati had a time of 22:05.7 and 5:55.6 per mile. This was her first time inside the top 10 in a Championship race, finishing 14th last season as a sophomore.

Sophomore Rachel Morrison’s 22:55.8 was the second best time on the team, and was good enough for 21st on the day. Kirsten Huffman was third for Lindenwood with 24:36.5 time in the 6k.

Moreau and Chouati were both awarded all-GLVC honors after the event. It was Moreau’s first time receiving the honor after his first season with Lindenwood, and was Chouati’s second as she was all-GLVC last season as well.
