Updated Nov. 11, 2021 at 10:15 p.m. with the event schedule for the mental health day activities.

To shed some light on the stress that the semester has brought to both students and faculty, the Lindenwood Executive Cabinet announced in an email sent out on Oct. 27 that the university will be cancelling all classes on Friday, Nov. 12.

“This semester has been tough in countless ways,” the initial email said. “As a campus community, we need to take a break.”

The email sent by the Executive Cabinet emphasizes the importance of taking time to rest and reflect, as well as communicating with friends and family and practicing self-care during this day off.

Lindenwood University’s Executive Cabinet identified the need for a mental health day for the campus community  in light of the recent tragedies of two students passing, and on top of the stress of the third semester navigating the COVID-19 pandemic,” Director of Communications Julee Mitsler said. “The students and employees of Lindenwood have worked so hard and faced unprecedented challenges throughout this semester, so taking Friday, November 12 as an intentional break to focus on mental wellbeing is essential.”

Mitsler states that Lindenwood will be hosting several events and activities during the campus-wide mental health day that are directed towards self-care and mindfulness.
