Black History Month: BSU to “honor the past and embrace the future”

Lindenwood’s Black Student Union is planning to host multiple events for students to celebrate Black History Month as February continues.
The celebration of Black History Month began back in 1976 when President Gerald Ford described it as a chance to “honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans,” according to AS.com.
The Black History Month celebration will include Black Out Tuesday, movie nights, trivia nights, and more. The events are hosted and sponsored by Lindenwood’s Black Student Union.
Black Out Day – General Assembly Meeting
When: Tuesday, Feb. 8, 6 p.m.
Where: Spellmann 4105

Movie Night
When: Thursday, Feb. 10, 7-9 p.m.
Where: LARC Theatre
Details: Showing Netflix Original “Amateur”
Paint with Love
When: Tuesday, Feb. 15, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Hyland Arena VIP Room
Details: Students can paint with their significant other or bring a friend
90’s Day
When: Tuesday, Feb. 15
Details: Wear your best 90’s fit and be camera-ready
Black Trivia Night
When: Wednesday, Feb. 16, 7-9 p.m.
Where: Spellmann Classroom 4105
Details: Top places will receive prizes
“Wild’n Out” Part 2
When: Thursday, Feb. 17, 7-9 p.m.
Where: LARC Theatre
Pajama Movie Night
When: Monday, Feb. 21, 7-9 p.m.
Where: LARC Theatre
Black Artist Day
When: Tuesday, Feb. 22
Details: Dress as your favorite music artist and be camera-ready.
Pictures will be taken all month using the hashtag #lindenwoodbsu.
