The Lindenwood men’s basketball team dropped its second home game of the season, losing to Utah Tech by a narrow margin, 73-66.
Lindenwood found themselves trailing 44-31 after the first half. The Lions shot for a 32% completion rate in the half on field goals, 30 percent on three pointers, and 50 percent on free throws. Cole Keenon and Darius Beane led the team in scoring in the half, combining for 13 points among them. Keith Haymon II drained two three-pointers of his own in the quarter as well.
In the second half, Lindenwood outscored Utah by six points, 35-29. However, the comeback was not enough, falling just seven points shy. The Lions had a more positive shooting percentage on field goals in the half, draining 37% of their shots. They took a step back on three-point attempts made, however, only sinking 22 percent, and making 63 percent of their free throws attempted.
For the game, Keenon led the team in scoring, putting up 17 points total, with Beane closely behind, putting up 14 points of his own. Keenon also led the team in rebounds in the game, with 11, with Beane again following suit with eight of his own. On the defensive side of the ball, Beane led the team in turnovers forced and steals, with three each.
The team heads to Pocaetello, Idaho this Saturday, Dec. 2 to play Idaho State University, before returning to campus the following Saturday, Dec. 9 to face Kansas City. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Hyland Arena.
