The Lindenwood Men’s Hockey team is set to open their 2024-2025 season on Saturday, October 5th at 7:10 P.M. They will look to improve off last season’s record of 6-18-4. That was good for a .286 winning percentage. Lindenwood will turn the page and try to find momentum behind a new head coach.
After parting ways with longtime head coach Rick Zombo in the offseason they will turn to a new face, Bill Muckalt, who will be behind the bench for the new season. Muckalt was hired to be the next head coach of men’s hockey on April 23rd 2024. Before Lindenwood, Muckalt was the Associate Head Coach at the University of Michigan from 2017-2023. They are hoping Muckalt brings a different look to Lindenwood this year.
Also behind the bench for the Lions this season is second year assistant coach Jack Combs. The Lions welcome first year assistant coach and former draft pick of the Washington Capitals, Benton Maass to the coaching staff. As well as director of operations and video coach, Mark Abney. Abney has been with the men’s ice hockey program at Lindenwood since its inception, and has been an assistant coach for the team since 2003.
