Women’s ACHA hockey hosted University of Michigan-Dearborn at Centene Community Ice Center on Saturday., as Lindenwood was looking to build off of the sweep the weekend prior.
The Wolverines wasted no time, putting a lot of pressure and shots on goal. The Lions’ defense, and goaltender Erica Didocha, stood tall and kept the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play. The Wolverines outshot the Lions 13-4 in the first.
The Wolverines would break the scoreless tie a minute into the second period with a goal by Cadence Pero. The Lions had opportunities all throughout the second to tie the game, but could not find the back of the net. The Wolverines outshot the Lions 16-7 in the second.
The Lions would look for the game-tying goal in the third but that hope was short-lived because at 2:36, Charlise Wharram would score for the Wolverines to make the score 2-0, and that is where it would stay. The Wolverines outshot the Lions 16-8 in the third, for a total of 45-19 in the game. Didocha played really well, stopping 43 of 45 shots against.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 3-5 on the season. They will host Arizona State in a two-game series on Oct. 25-26, followed by a single game with Miami University (Ohio) on Oct. 27th at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
