In an overall team effort, the Lindenwood men’s basketball team was able to rout University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy (UHSP) 98-30 in their home opener of the 2024-2025 season.
Five different Lions scored in double figures, led by Jadis Jones’ 14 points. Jones, a freshman, has started his Lindenwood career with back-to-back double digit outings after scoring 10 points in the season opener at Oklahoma. Jones shot a perfect 7/7 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds and two steals. Nathan Johnson Jr and Jaylon McDaniels each had 13 points to contribute in the win. Anias Futrell also added another 12 points and four rebounds while Markeith Browning II added 11 points and three steals. Lindenwood showcased their defense on the night, holding UHSP to only 11 made shots and outrebounded the Eutectics 39-25. The Lions also held the Eutectics to shooting only 20.8% from the field and 20% from three. Lindenwood had a total of 19 steals in the game and forced 26 turnovers on the night. Colin Ruffin led the Lions with 4 steals while also tallying eight points, three rebounds, and six assists.
Lindenwood scored 48 points off turnovers, compared to just seven by UHSP. The Lions also dominated the paint all night scoring 72 of their 98 points down low. Lindenwood only shot 5/12 from three but they didn’t need to shoot so many outside shots due to being to physical and too big for UHSP down in the post. Lindenwood also scored 35 points on the fast break on the night. The Lions took care of business limiting UHSP to 12.5% shooting in the second half with just three made field-goals. Lindenwood dominated the game from start to finish outscoring the Eutectics 50-20 in the first half and 48-10 in the second half.
Lindenwood now heads out to Moon Township, PA to play in the Urban-Bennett Invitational MTE Hosted by P3R. The Lions will play three games over four days, against New Orleans University, Robert Morris university and Stonehill College from Nov. 14-17. The Lions won’t return home until Dec. 4 when they play host to East-West University.
